Signa - Telegraph Collection

Presumably piece of a submarine cable joining Maldonado (Punta del Este) with Rio Grande operated by The Western Telegraph Co and in disuse from the  late 1970¨s Probably a piece abandoned after a repair, the clean cut at  the rusty end would indicate this. It shows some marine growth implying  many years at the sea bed. Piece recovered by the cable ship “Ile de Brehat” which laid the “Tannat” cable joining Punta del Este with Boca Raton, and obtained thanks to the good services of Andrew Metcalf of Google, one of the owners of the new cable.
